Barca (La Casa Occupata di piazza Sofia,Torino)
La Barca
“La Barca” is a project I created in 2022 as the final work of my academic journey.
It is an anthropological photo documentary that explores life inside an occupied house.
The house was located in Turin and was evicted in the same year.
The work investigates what happens when the rules of our society cease to apply, and new dynamics and forms of coexistence emerge out of necessity.
Through this project, I also questioned whether a life without rules is truly possible.
“La Barca” was born in 2019, during the Covid period, when three young people were in need of a home.
It became an open space where anyone who needed a place to live—or simply a free environment to express themselves and their art—could find hospitality.
Today, that house no longer exists.
The project and the photographs remain as a memory of a place where encounters created a home and a safe space.
Esprit de léscalier
Esprit de l ́escalier
"Esprit de l’escalier" is a French expression with no direct equivalent in Italian.
It describes that moment when the right words come too late — when the opportunity has already passed, and all that remains is the thought of what we should have said.
This photographic project is born from that feeling: regret, recurring thought, and silence heavy with meaning. Through images, I explore what remains unresolved — what could have been said or done, but stayed hidden in the shadow of a lost moment.
An imaginary dialogue between past and present, between what was and what could have been.
